On Halloween night, we had 55 trick-or-treaters this year, up 12 from the 43 last year! Beth thinks the increase is because Thursday is a better night for trick-or-treating than Wednesday.
While handing out candy, we watched two Boris Karloff movies: Isle of the Dead and Die, Monster, Die! Isle is a Val Lewton film where a group of people are trapped on a small Greek island being picked off one by one by a plague -- or is it a vorvolaka? Die, Monster is based on the H. P. Lovecraft story "The Color Out of Space", but the plot was changed to be similar to the Edgar Allen Poe adaptations that Roger Corman was doing at the time. They are both good, but Die, Monster is more fun, with Karloff becoming an aluminum-foil-covered monster at the end.
