My brother and sister-in-law and the nieces were in town last weekend, and they wanted to see a movie, so Beth and I went to see Puss in Boots with them. But we got the times mixed up, so we saw Hugo instead. No complaints, because it was a really good movie, with excellent 3D, and the girls liked it too (but I think the 9-year-old Emma appreciated it more than her 6-year old sister Allie). It has fun chase scenes, a puzzling mystery to solve, a resourceful orphan, a painless film history lesson and a clockwork automaton. It's really nice to see a top-tier filmmaker like Martin Scorsese try 3D; after movies like Captain America*, it reminds you that 3D can be pretty cool...

*I liked Cap, but the 3D was nothing special.

Recent cover scans I added to GCD:
Archie #627
Defenders #1
Disney-Pixar/Muppets Presents: Incredibles - City of Incredibles #7 (newsstand)
Richelle Mead's the Dark Swan: Storm Born #4
