Captain America: The First Avenger

I saw Captain America: The First Avenger with my friend Scott last week.  It's very good, without any of the puzzling missteps so many super-hero movies make. Some of the standout touches that I really like were Stanley Tucci as Dr. Erskine, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter and the "skinny Steve" special effect. It's a bit of a shame it had to end the way it did, but it's understandable.

If you want to see how a Captain America movie can go bad, read this funny review of the comic book adaptation of the 1990 Cap movie.

I loved Captain America too (and that Alan Menken song, amirite?), and I felt it really got to the core of his character, hitting all the right notes. I especially loved his relationship with Erskine.

I think Tucci as Erskine was excellent. Worthy of a supporting actor Oscar, not that it would ever happen...
