If there's anime showing on the big screen, I try to go to it, so we went and saw Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos two weeks ago. Unlike the first Fullmetal Alchemist move which picked up where the first TV series ended, this movie does not pick up from the second TV series -- instead, it's a side story set during the series. That's OK with me, because I haven't seen the second series...

As a side story, it stands alone pretty well so you don't need to know too much about Fullmetal Alchemist to follow it, but it's still lots of fun with magic and explosions and steampunkish (diesel punk, whatever) design. Ed and Al may seem like they are just along for the ride sometimes (as the plot and character growth is handed over to new characters we will probably never see again), but they're still fun to be with.
