New Comics Wednesday (one day late)

I finally got to the comic book store today, and there was lots of good stuff this week:

All Flash #1 -- Wally West and Mark Waid are back together, so I gave it a try.  It's not bad for a big event comic, but it hasn't convinced me to pick up Flash #231 next month...

The Brave and the Bold #5 -- This comic is full-ahead wacky goodness.  This issue is Batman and vs. the Legion of Super-Heroes, and it works as a standalone story of Batman fighting the Legion (he uses the Siamese Human Knot!) and it adds time-travel complexity to the main plot.  And where are the Luck Lords?  They're right behind you!  Aaaa!

Countdown #41 -- Getting better all the time.  The Piper & Trickster plot is great fun (after way too much setup), the Holly Robinson plot is still crazy, and the Karate Kid plot has finally straightened out its timeline and makes some sense...

Giant-Size Marvel Adventures The Avengers #1 -- I've never picked up a Marvel Adventures title before, but this one guest-stars the Agents of Atlas and reprints two Golden Age stores, so I picked it up.  It's not bad -- obviously written for kids, but not written down to kids.

Mystic Arcana: Black Knight #1 -- Despite the modern Black Knight on the cover, this is the life story of the first Black Knight, back in the days of King Arthur.  It could have just been continuity porn (especially written by Roy Thomas), but it's actually a pretty good story.

Super-Villain Team-Up/Modok's 11 #1 -- Why a slash in the title?  Run out of colons?
Modok* gathers a motley group of villains for what he claims is a robbery, but  there seems to be more going on then he's telling.  The cast is interesting (Armadillo, Puma, Mentallo, Rocket Racer, Nightshade, Living Laser, Spot and Chameleon), but it remains to be seen if anything interesting will be done with them.  Should I get future issues, or wait for the trade?
And yes, that is only nine super-villains.  I think the rest are coming later...
