Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

I didn't post yesterday because we were getting ready for our garage sale today, which was a big bust.  Sill, I'm glad we did it because the stuff we didn't sell (which is almost all of it) is now going to Goodwill and out of our lives.  I like stuff, but it's good to get rid of it too...

So afterward, we went with friends to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.  It wasn't bad.  It builds on the earlier films well by making the situation even more dire, and it's focused on the Voldemort threat instead of a silly competition like the last movie.  The whole plot with the government (in the person of Dolores Umbridge) taking over Hogwarts is another good way to take what went before (our knowledge about how Hogwarts works) and change that to give use something new.  I think there was probably also some political commentary there too ;-)

Oh, I really like new character Luna Lovegood too. It seems to me that there should be creepy students at Hogwarts, so she just makes sense.

Beth thought it was noticeably darker than the previous installments, but I didn't really notice -- it seems more like a progression of the darkening that been going on since the third film to me, not a big leap.

So, if you've seen the other movies, I recommend this one too.  If you haven't, I'm curious why you are even thinking of going...
