Will the chipmunks look like 3D versions of the 1960's cartoons? The 1980's cartoons? Realistic three-foot high chipmunks? None of those sound good...
Well, last weekend I found a teaser movie poster (and a little about the writer). Go ahead, click on it and then come back. It answers some questions and brings up some more...
1. So, the chipmunks are more realistic than before, but there's some cartoony-ness going on. Of course, their eyes are still hidden, so we can't really judge the final product...
2. If they are in scale to Dave, they are the size of real chipmunks. Is that a good idea? A big part of the previous versions was the pseudo-parent/child relationship between Dave and the 'munks. That was probably easier to pull off when they were the size of children...
3. I hope the hip hop posturing in this picture is only for the poster, and not the way they are all the time...
4. Jason Lee, good luck with this, because this is the sort of thing that could easily backfire...
5. That writer Don Rhymer seems to be kind of a hack, huh? But that's probably not fair of me, he's certainly written more movies than I have. And the other writer Jon Vitti has worked on some cooler projects, so that's good...
